Food That Can Help Cure Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare, but brutal form of cancer. Survival rates are not great. So, is there a food that can help cure Mesothelioma when it comes to treatment options?

Mesothelioma is a cancer that doesn't get much notice among the general public because of a couple of things. First, it is fairly rare. Second, the name does not exactly slip off the tongue. That being said, most people actually know about it when you raise one word that is often considered the cause of it – asbestos.

Mesothelioma comes in three main forms depending on where it is found in the body. All attack the mesothelium. This is a lining in the chest and abdomen area that serves a unique function. It both pads and provides a lubricated surface for the organs to move with so as not to cause damage to themselves or each other. For instance, there is a lining around the lungs and one around the heart. The cancer that occurs is in this lining.

Is there a food that can help cure Mesothelioma? The answer is that there is not. The problem is Mesothelioma is almost always discovered very late in its development. The cancer is notoriously hard to diagnose and see in radiological studies. As a result, it may develop for more than 40 years before it is discovered. Since it only starts to show overt symptoms at the very end of its development, it is usually far too late for any form of treatment other than radical, aggressive efforts.

This doesn't mean that nutrition isn't a part of the solution. Aggressive medical treatment is going to have a negative impact on your body. You can expect to undergo radical surgery, chemotherapy and radiation procedures. To help your body recover, you are going to need to eat and eat well. Your doctor will prescribe a particular diet, but vegetables are the best way to go in many cases. Why? They are packed with vitamins, enzymes and nutrients that are natural disease fighters. This includes vitamin B.

Will the food you eat cure Mesothelioma on its own? Not a chance. Sorry. That doesn't mean, however, that you shouldn't look to nutrition as part of the solution. It may not provide a cure, but it can certainly be part of the solution. Make sure to speak with your physician or a nutritionist about it.
